All Black

Sometimes I like to dress in full black attire.

This fur vest makes me feel like a warrior.

Also, my neck is killing me! Cat and I, along with her sis, went to an extreme sport place with tons of trampolines and foam pits. We were pretending to be all young hot stuff, and showing off for our kids, doing all kinds of flips and trick. Now we're paying the price, oy. We're too old for that crap!

Style Mamas

We were so excited to see this Style Mama Link Up on a bunch of our favorite blogs, and jumped at the chance to put up our own post. Nothin' like connecting with other moms through the internet!

One of the things we love about fashion is that it's ever evolving. We haven't yet found a way to get bored with it! But even through the changes in fashion, we find ourselves threading a commonality from trend to trend, and that is comfort and ease, which obviously accommodates our full time jobs as mothers. We want to be able to to attend to our kiddo's every need, without the fuss of cumbersome fashion.

Another important thing about our choice in fashion is cost. With both of us being on tight budgets, we can't be frivolous with our spending, so we search for deals like you wouldn't believe, and stick to the cheaper stores!

Meagan
Mom to Kian (3) and Vada (1)

The three of us are always on the go. Being a mom of two, throw two jobs in the mix, and things get pretty hectic.

To accommodate my busy lifestyle, I like to keep it comfy, but my wardrobe has to be pretty versatile, so I typically jazz it up a little with fun tops and printed pants.

My style necessities are:
1. A baggy knit sweater (or 17 of 'em)
2. Flat black boots/booties
3. Collared button up

Mama's Outfit:
Button Up: Forever 21 - $18 | Sweater: Forever 21 - $15 | Jacket: Forever 21 - $20 | Jeans: H&M - $20  | Boots: Forever 21 - $16 | Beanie: Gap - $10

Caitlyn
Mom to Samson (2)

We are a silly pair, Samson and I, and we get along best if we're being active/goofing around (boys and their energy!). I never want what I'm wearing to inhibit my play with Sam, but I'm also unwilling to forgo form over function.

However, don't hit up my house before noon, or you'll typically encounter Frump City.

That being said, my three style necessities are:
1. Leggings of all prints and fabrics
2. Flat boots/booties
3. Longline tops

And of course I always need my faux leather jacket or a coat to throw on during these frigid Utah months. (Where the freak is summer already!?)

Working as a part-time cosmetologist gives me the opportunity to dress up my daily wear a little, so I definitely use it as an excuse to throw on a few of my nicer items!

Mama's Outfit:
Studded Button Up: Forever 21 - $20 | Sweater: Forever 21 - $30 | Leggings: Cotton On - $25 | Moccasins: Soel Boutique - $47

Samson's Outfit:
Button Up: Target - $12 | Sweater: Gap Outlet - $15 | Cords: Old Navy - $10 | Shoes: Target - $12 | Hat: Gap - $10

♡ Casual Valentine ♡

I'm one of those.

A St. Valentine's Day hater. It's a silly holiday, and a silly commercialized concept. I do enjoy, however, the excuse it gives me to don frills and pastels. As well as neons, saturated girly colors, and the like.

I'm not at all opposed to wearing these red cords all year, but it's so beautifully cliche to pull them out for this winter holiday. Am I right, or am I right? The same goes for the Fourth of July. Aaahhhhh the Fourth of July...summer, heat, swimming, watermelon...oh crap, I can feel myself slipping into a coma...but it seems like an enjoyable one.

Blazer & Sequins

If you can just completely ignore the weird pissed look on my face, I'd appreciate it. It was frigid outside, and difficult to smile. It happens, I swear.

With Valentine's just around the corner, I love pulling out my pastels, pinks, purples, etc. Brightening the hideous month of February with colors like this feels therapeutic.

So, this dress...I came across it browsing Target's clearance months and months ago, and as it often is with clearance items, the price tag drew me in. Normally I wouldn't have even given it a second thought, but just noticing that it was originally $70 and then marked down to $9 grabbed my attention. Damn clearance always duping me.

I threw it in my cart and figured I would probably end up ditching it before check out. Well I eventually threw it on in the dressing room and was surprised to see it wasn't hideous. The length was acceptable, and it had some serious potential. It wasn't until I tried it on months later that I was stumped as to how to wear it. It has a sweatheart neckline with spaghetti straps, so figuring out how to cover up the top part was difficult.

Enter Meagan. If ever in a wardrobe crisis...this girl can rescue you, no problem! She told me to throw a sweater over top and wear it as a skirt, with a silent "duh" at the end. And as it always is with her fashion advice, we came out with a win!

DIY Denim Vest

I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, It takes me a bit longer to get things than most. For instance, this simple DIY turned some what disastrous for me. I wanted to take my old Gap denim jacket, and turn it into an edgier vest. Sounds easy as pie, but not for me!

Cut the sleeves off arms, check.

I didn't photograph the part of me putting it in a bin full of bleach water, because it's freezing outside. I didn't measure the water and bleach, I just poured some in. The vest was taking forever to turn, and I had used the last of our bleach. I let it sit over night to give it longer, and the bleach water froze, along with my vest.

I thawed it out and it wasn't as light as I wanted, so I made another batch of bleach water. I put a heavy green ceramic bowl atop the vest to weight it down, the darn thing kept rising to the top of the water. This is where it all went wrong. The green bowl turned my awesome vest green! Gah! I let it sit in bleach again for about 5 hours, and the green did not budge! So now it's green, but I'll still wear it.
I'm borrowing this pal for a project Cat and I are working on, and she sits in my room. Every time I walk out of the bathroom, she scares the **** outta me. Then we have a good laugh about it, EVERY TIME.
She scared me again people, I gotta check that.
AAAAAnd I have no make-up on, scary sight.

Winter Whites

I hope everyone had a wonderful, dreamy Christmas! I was super stressed and busy before Christmas. After working Christmas Eve, it was off to finish up my shopping, so needless to say it came down to the wire! I usually have everything done at the beginning of December, but not this year. I must say, I would much rather avoid the hustling bustling crowds like I normally do!

Albeit crazy and busy, we had a wonderful time preparing for this holiday, and reflecting on the true meaning of Christmas.

I wanted to add a few photos of my kiddos on Christmas morning. My heart was full and I was feeling so blessed to watch my darlings open their presents. Christmas with these little ones brings so much joy. I loved every second watching their excited expressions opening gifts.

Now my boy is turning three, and my sweetie is turning one this week. Like every mother before me, I can't believe they're getting so big, so dang fast! I'm thrilled to see what 2013 has in store for us.

Sequins & Studs

We don't know how the rest of you moms do it. Bringing your kids together for a giant, or little, playdate, and end up conversing with each other while the kids nicely play. Caitlyn and I gave it a go today so we could work on some blog things, and you wouldn't believe the amount of fighting that went on between K and S. We swear we raise them in calm, loving homes, but somehow they pick up on hitting, pushing, yelling and the like from somewhere and use it on each other. What is your secret!?

It even got so bad that Caitlyn had to whisk S away from the house earlier than planned and head home. Something about Thomas the Train, and not wanting to share with K. Kids... Or is it boys... ?

Mama Wolf

Today I'm feeling overwhelmed. It seems like everyday I set small goals to reach for the next day; I have a laundry list of things I want to get done, and I can never seem to get anything accomplished before work! Maybe I should try to be a little more realistic about what I can get done with two, active kids running around?

Remember birthdays as a kid? Practically revered as a holiday! Funny how the older we get the less important birthdays get...

I spent my b-day with my kiddos, and went to lunch with Cait. Since my hubby worked all day, we decided to celebrate the following Monday, and after failing to find a sitter we brought the kids thinking it'd be fun to spend the day together as a family.

We ended up eating at The Garden Restaraunt in Salt Lake. I've always loved the beautiful view from up there of the temple we were sealed in and the city. We sat near the window since K wanted to see the temple while we ate. Naturally, something had to go wrong during our meal, it's just the way of the world, right!? Poor K ended up flipping off his chair and banging his chin on the table, sinking his top teeth deep into his lip. It was a freakin' blood bath in there, and he was hysterical! He was so upset, then peed all over the chair and the floor. Poor kid! After that he was so grumpy, and there was nothing to make him happy. And somehow, a giant hole DIDN'T open up right in the middle of the floor to swallow me up whole! How rude is that? Needless to say, we won't be going there for a looong time.

Little Wolf

We've been couped up in our house for five days now potty training K, so it was nice to go into the wild(er behind our house) for some photos. It's typically impossible to get a photo of him, but Auntie Matty was there to get his attention by singing ABC's, which he's mastered.

My dearest mother bought this coat for K, and I couldn't love it more. My fur obsession for my boy...yes please! I hope he finds it cool and doesn't hate me for it in the future. As I was dressing him to go outside I slipped his boots over his thick socks that his jeans were tucked into. I was thinking, 'how did mothers do snow boots before skinny jeans?' Call it girly if you must, but it's convenient and I love it.

My favorite thing lately is listening to this sweet boy say his prayers. He expresses his own thoughts, and feelings; watching this little boy learn as he grows just makes my heart want to burst a thousand times!

Isn't it wild how much bigger our kids seem as they learn? Ever since we've been potty training K, he seems to have aged years! He is even going potty all on his own, then running up to me after saying, "Mommy, I went potty!" Where did this independence come from? I love it!

The kid loves snow, and eats it like it's candy. I just want to squeeze him!

Have a happy weekend, and thanks for reading!
