DIY Gold Dipped Feather Necklace

I'm heading off the sparkle series today with a super easy DIY sure to add sparkle to your holiday wardrobe. It's been a long day, and I'm currently writing this at 1:22 am so forgive me if I sound loopy. I hope this DIY makes sense!

I saw the gold dipped feather garland on Pinterest and loved it. I was looking at feathers and these cute mini goose feathers at Hobby Lobby caught my eye.  I thought it'd be cute to make a necklace version of the garland.

I put these photos in a different order than I actually performed the DIY, because it's easier this way.

I clipped the end of the feathers off with a wire cutter, but you can just use scissors if you want.

The clamps I found at Hobby Lobby had a little hook at the end that I clipped off as well.

Putting the clamp on the end of the feather.

These were the smallest pliers I could find at my house, surely you can use smaller ones!

Dipping the feather in the paint, pretty self explanatory. You can't go wrong here!. The acrylic paint was a little thick so I wiped off excess as I pulled the feather out.

I dipped the sides and tip in glitter instead of sprinkling it on the paint. I did this right after I dipped it in paint, while it was still wet so it would stick.

I bought chain that I could cut to the length I wanted, and attached a closure with small rings.

Hang feathers to dry before you put them on the necklace, and around your neck!

This is a horrible photo of the end result, but you get the gist of it. The rings I bought were too small, so I used a bigger one that I had on hand. I think I'll get separate rings for each feather and put more feathers on so they'll hang independently.

Happy Holiday DIYs!

Stud Booties

First and foremost, please excuse the quality of these sub par photos, they were taken with my iPhone.

I bought these awhile back from Target (and for $11 nonetheless!), and just felt like they needed a little pizazz. Gold studs are pizazz-y, right? Did you know you can buy random craft items in bulk, or not, off Etsy in the Supplies section? I ordered a pack of gold studs a long time ago, just knowing I'd find a good use for them, and if I may admit, I think I surely did that.

Things needed: Lucky item waiting to be studded, hot glue gun, studs (I bought the ones without the prongs, they have the round cap instead like this), tough thumbs and The Vampire Diaries - because who doesn't need a little Damon and Stefan while they craft?

I have the prettiest glue gun ever.

You get the idea...

Wah-lah! Unlike other crafts I take on, I'm extremely pleased with the outcome of this one. Stay tuned for an outfit post showcasing these gems.

This was such an easy DIY, which is basically the only kind I can get involved in, and now I just want to bedazzle everything!

Baby Golds

I stop by Zara online once in a while and wish for all their good stuff. It's never in our budget, but if I had money you better believe I would do all my shopping there. I saw some gold baby shoes I was dying for my little V to have, but they were $30.00. Not going to happen. So I thought I would DIY my own version.

I had the paint and tape already, and the shoes I bought from Payless for $6. I taped off the sole, then covered the canvas part with modge podge (sorry forgot to photo this part). I let that dry, then sprayed the metallic paint on the canvas. I sprayed it on pretty thick the first time which I regret. If I could do it again I would spray a very thin layer first, then a second touch up layer.

The cutest model around, baby V.

I ended up dying the laces with Rit Tan dye that I had on hand.

It would also be cute to do gold polka dots with acrylic paint.

Easiest DIY ever!
