Sequins & Studs

We don't know how the rest of you moms do it. Bringing your kids together for a giant, or little, playdate, and end up conversing with each other while the kids nicely play. Caitlyn and I gave it a go today so we could work on some blog things, and you wouldn't believe the amount of fighting that went on between K and S. We swear we raise them in calm, loving homes, but somehow they pick up on hitting, pushing, yelling and the like from somewhere and use it on each other. What is your secret!?

It even got so bad that Caitlyn had to whisk S away from the house earlier than planned and head home. Something about Thomas the Train, and not wanting to share with K. Kids... Or is it boys... ?

Golden Clutch

I recently ordered some clothes for S from cottonon.com, and since they just opened their online site, they sent out a free tote with each order. I'm not a huge fan of the tote, I feel it's more like an oversized clutch than a tote, and since I still had leftover studs from my booties DIY, I figured I'd jazz up the clutch a little! It is a titch redundant from the booties, but after adding the studs I definitely feel it's more holiday-season worthy! 

I ran into quite a bit of trial and error with this DIY, and learned some good things along the way. These studs come with a back to punch through the material from behind, so I thought I'd try that method. Unfortunately, the backing is too long, leaving the stud loose. 

I tackled the project next with super glue, thinking that would be the best option since I learned I should've used that instead of hot glue on my booties, but the material of the clutch didn't respond well to the super glue and with just a little knick the stud would pop right off.

So back to hot glue I went!

And once again, indenting my fingertips. 

Now I'm equipped with a proper bag for parties, gatherings, and even quick errand running!

Studs & Color Blocking

A trend I am totally on board with is color blocking. You'll find it on the celebs, if you care about those folks, on Pinterest, and just regular ol' gals like me! 

And I definitely had to put in a plug about the DIY booties from this post. Something to learn from this DIY is that super glue would've been the better bonding agent. Still loving them though, and surprisingly, I lasted all three hours of church in them, WITH a two year old. Bonus!

Stud Booties

First and foremost, please excuse the quality of these sub par photos, they were taken with my iPhone. 

I bought these awhile back from Target (and for $11 nonetheless!), and just felt like they needed a little pizazz. Gold studs are pizazz-y, right? Did you know you can buy random craft items in bulk, or not, off Etsy in the Supplies section? I ordered a pack of gold studs a long time ago, just knowing I'd find a good use for them, and if I may admit, I think I surely did that.

Things needed: Lucky item waiting to be studded, hot glue gun, studs (I bought the ones without the prongs, they have the round cap instead like this), tough thumbs and The Vampire Diaries - because who doesn't need a little Damon and Stefan while they craft?

I have the prettiest glue gun ever.

You get the idea...

Wah-lah! Unlike other crafts I take on, I'm extremely pleased with the outcome of this one. Stay tuned for an outfit post showcasing these gems. 

This was such an easy DIY, which is basically the only kind I can get involved in, and now I just want to bedazzle everything!
