Cable Knit

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Mine was busy, but good!

My second job is working with a catering company. I work sporadically (I recently watched Clueless) so it's really fun when I work there. We work hard, and play hard, and dance and laugh a lot. It's long hours and hard to be away from my kids, but I gotta.

Saturday, my sis and I pretended we were New Yorkers, and drove to Salt Lake City in a blizzard, with our kids and walked around City Creek Center. I had V strapped to my chest, and K in the stroller. It was snowing beautifully, and I wish I had brought my camera, but hey, that's just too much crap! I felt like I was in a dream, and right then and there I was loving this cold winter. The feeling didn't last long.

I never use my carrier for V, and I was loving being able to look down at her sweet face right there, and kiss her every second. The kids did so well with all our walking around, I'm one blessed Mommy!

Valentine's Look

Can I just say it was fa-reezing out when we took these photos hence my locked jaw and scowl in each one. I'm still defrosting hours later.
I love Valentine's Day color palettes. Orange, red, pink, coral, and purple are my most favorite monochromatic colors to mix, and I love wearing these colors as much as possible this time of year. So get ready for a few V-Day posts with these colors ahead! Hope you don't get sick of them, I know I won't.

Casual Flannel

All the sickies going around our area finally reached our house. We've all been sick and on house arrest. It was nice to get outta the house, and have some fun with my girl Cat.

I have a hard time finding jeans that fit well. I have big thighs and booty, but a small waist. I used to spend a lot of money on designer jeans that fit well, but that ain't happenin' these days. I bought these black skinnies at F21 for $15.50, and I haven't taken them off! They're quality and comfort, what more could I ask for?

Stripes & Dots

Anyone else felt like they had to roll themselves out of bed this morning, still feeling the effects of their Thanksgiving feast from yesterday? My, what a splendid holiday. I hope yours was as fabulous as mine!

And now, Christmas is definitely upon us! Got your gift lists written? Online websites thoroughly browsed? Coupons organized and ready? Santa letters drafted? Ya, we don't either. There is so much to be done!
And here's another outfit for the books...

Always on board with mixing patterns, even two bold patterns such as stripes and polka dots. Adding a solid coat and shoes neutralizes the look a little, but I can't say I wouldn't throw on a third pattern to kick it up a notch. Gotta take risks!

I always feel more than able to run around after my kids in rainboots. Super comfortable, and no-fuss.

Holiday Sequins

I don't know what it is about sequins and this time of year, I guess it's just that adding a little sparkle to your wardrobe just makes the merriment a little...merrier!

Below are a few items we are drooling over, and would love to don over the holidays. Sadly, most of them are out of our price range, so we've been brainstorming some DIY's to add some sparkle to a few items in our closets.

We are launching a DIY Sparkle Series starting next week, so stay tuned for ideas and inspiration on how to jazz up your threads this season. We do hope you'll join in as well, and post some of your own!

Camo & Leather

With winter approaching, and fall in full swing (who's looking forward to Halloween!?), I find myself seeking out edgier outfits often. Leather, dark prints, graphic tees, dark lips and metal accents really bring that sort of look together. Even one of those items can stand alone, and give you that rocker feel you may be seeking!

My favorite part about this outfit is the camo jacket I found in the men's department! It really pays to shop all sections wherever you are.

Baby Golds

I stop by Zara online once in a while and wish for all their good stuff. It's never in our budget, but if I had money you better believe I would do all my shopping there. I saw some gold baby shoes I was dying for my little V to have, but they were $30.00. Not going to happen. So I thought I would DIY my own version.

I had the paint and tape already, and the shoes I bought from Payless for $6. I taped off the sole, then covered the canvas part with modge podge (sorry forgot to photo this part). I let that dry, then sprayed the metallic paint on the canvas. I sprayed it on pretty thick the first time which I regret. If I could do it again I would spray a very thin layer first, then a second touch up layer.

The cutest model around, baby V.

I ended up dying the laces with Rit Tan dye that I had on hand.

It would also be cute to do gold polka dots with acrylic paint.

Easiest DIY ever!

Diamond & Pumpkin

When I saw this shirt in F21, it screamed October/fall. I needed wanted it, so the shopaholic justifications came out like they always do.

Fall is a beautiful time of year where Cat and I live, we're lucky gals.
